How To Play

Follow the instructions below to start playing The GOOT Game.

NOTE: Also make sure you read through the FAQ Section for important points to understand before you start racing around the country.

1. Register a team (or as an individual) on the Signup Page. You get 5 Bonus Points per person when you've activated your account (i.e. a team of 3 would get 15 points!). This immediately puts you on the Leaderboard.

2. Get yourself a copy of the GOOT Game Category Guide. This is available in the main menu, download or print the PDF to take with you.

3. As you travel around New Zealand take a photo of yourself or your entire team at each of the locations, icons or with the objects or people listed under the following categories in the GOOT Passport or the online Game Guide.

• Natural Wonders
• Constructed Wonders
• Historic Wonders
• Famous Towns
• Flora & Fauna
• Lighthouses
• Maori Culture
• People
• Statues
• Places
• Summits
• Signs
• Modes of Transport
• Kiwiana
• Giants

NOTE: The number of points you receive for each location, icon, object or person is listed in the GOOT Passport or on the online Game Guide. To recieve the associated points ALL members of the team must be in the photo. Each photo must also be validated by the "Thingy of the month" (see below).

4. Bonus points will be awarded if there is a GOOT t-shirt or hoodie in the photo as well. One point per photo. Email us at game@goot.co.nz about purchasing a GOOT Hoodie.

NOTE: Photos can only be submitted once to each category, ever. If you submit a photo but realise you have sent the wrong one, email game@goot.co.nz with the correct version straight away and we can replace it before approval. Photos that are not accepted will be deleted, this means you can re-enter if you collect the correct photo either that month or in the next months round.

5. Login & Submit your photos online at www.thegootgame.com - your potential points will show on the Leaderboard for all to see. We check all entries are valid and once approved the photos will show on the public gallery and the points will show as approved on the Leaderboard.

NOTE: Only photos taken during the game month are valid. You cannot save up your photos for a few months and then send them all in one go. To stop competitors cheating there will be a new object or activity announced each month which must be visible in the photo with you. This "Thingy" will be announced at the start of each month and can be viewed on the "Thingy of the Month" page.

6. All other applications for points (ie: points associated with treasure hunts or challenges) can be emailed to game@goot.co.nz. We will add these points manually to your total.

NOTE: Photos and other submissions must be received before the last day of the month (NZ time) to be eligible for that months game (photos received after this period will not count towards score).

7. Prizes will be awarded for the most points collected in each given month. Bonus points will also be awarded to the team that is winning at the end of week 1, week 2 and week 3 during any given month.
